Sydney Olympic Football defender George Timotheou has signed to play with Bundesliga giants FC Schalke 04.
George has worked very hard and was very impressive in his recent trial. George will depart the club immediately to take up this wonderful opportunity.
Sydney Olympic Football Club shares a wonderful relationship with FC Schalke 04 through its partnership with Australian based ORCA Enviro Systems.
Club CEO John Boulous stated.
“It is always difficult to see players of the quality of George depart, particularly at this important stage of the season, but as a Club we exist to see players reach their potential and his signing with Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 is an opportunity of a lifetime and something we could not be more proud of.
“We have made it known to all our players that playing for Sydney Olympic Football Club will put you in the shop window and George’s signing at FC Schalke 04 clearly demonstrates that Olympic is firmly part of the pathway for talented players, both at our club as well as for those players who are looking to come to our club to reach their potential.
“As a club we have a Board and coaching staff that are totally committed to ensuring all players have the opportunity to develop and explore every opportunity both in Australia and abroad through their networks.”
Head Coach Abbas Saad was delighted by the news.
“George is a talented footballer and professional in every sense. George is committed and has worked very hard for this opportunity. We wish him the very best as he takes this huge step in his career.”
